Ex-jueteng whistleblower Sandra Cam files COC for senator

MANILA, Philippines - Former jueteng whistleblower Sandra Cam on Thursday filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator before the Commission on Elections.

Cam will run under the Puwersa ng Masa ng Pilipino party.

If Cam wins, she said part of her agenda are the overseas Filipino workers, senior citizens, sovereignty of the Philippines involving the West Philippine Sea and injustice among prisoners.

She said she would enact if elected a "Bail now, pay later" law.

As a former whistleblower, Cam also said her first bill is the Whistleblowers Act.

I feel out for ten years," Cam said.

"Walang nangyayari sa amin, kami nina Jun Lozada, nina Col. Rabusa at sa iba pang mga whistleblowers," she added.

Cam also mentioned she is an educator, owning schools in Cavite and Masbate.

She became known to public as the whistleblower during the Senate investigation in 2005. She claimed she collected money from jueteng lords and delivered them to then presidential son and former Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo and late Negros Occidental Rep. Ignacio "Iggy" Arroyo, brother of former first gentleman Jose Miguel "Mike" Arroyo.
