DSWD-7 revives physical info caravan in towns

CEBU, Philippines — After two years of hiatus, the Department of Social Welfare and Development-7 has revived the face-to-face information caravan in the municipalities of Minglanilla and Compostela in Cebu Province.

The information caravan, spearheaded by the Social Marketing Unit, aims to bring the information closer to the general public or program beneficiaries, especially those who are in far-flung areas or who have lesser access to social media on the various programs, services, or projects of the department.

Together with the information officers were program focal persons, or their representatives, who discussed their specific programs or services. They also clarified and answered the issues raised by the participants.

For the two information caravans, the DSWD-7 invited 58 fishermen in Barangay Tungkop, Minglanilla and 35 farmers in Compostela. The local government officials also joined the activity and discussed the programs that the participants could avail of.

Some of the programs tackled during these caravans were the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Social Pension, Centenarian for Indigent Senior Citizens, the Centenarian Program, the Sustainable Livelihood Program, and Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS).

Aside from programs, the following were also discussed: Listahanan, DSWD Branding Guidelines, Disaster Response Management, Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC), and Trafficking in Persons.

Reynanay

Meanwhile, after the successful conduct of the first Search for 4Ps ReyNanay in 2022, DSWD-7 will open its second year of staging, which aims to provide opportunities to share their stories of change on different platforms.

The search for 4Ps ReyNanay pays tribute to empowered 4Ps mothers who made a significant impact and contribution to their community and will showcase each mother’s success story, her personal advocacy, and her public speaking skills.

The activity will focus on the inner beauty of each ReyNanay and their active participation in community development.

The search is open to all women beneficiaries of 4Ps ages 40 to 55 years old.

Candidates must be beneficiaries of the program for at least two years, have good standing in the community with no derogatory records, whose income does not come from gambling, prostitution, child labor, extortion, or other similar illegal resources, and most importantly, be 100 percent compliant with all the program conditions.

As the department celebrates its 72 years anniversary with a theme, “Kaagapay sa Pagbangon, Katuwang sa Bawat Hamon,” recognized the department’s workforce as the main strength of the institution in providing sincere, prompt and compassionate service to the poor, vulnerable and the disadvantaged in society.

As part of this celebration, the department opened up the weeklong event through a DSWD Sportsfest.

DSWD-7 regional director Shalaine Marie Lucero highlighted the importance of this activity in building the values of sportsmanship and camaraderie that will help strengthen the bonds in Region 7.

The sports events in which the several teams participated included basketball, volleyball, badminton, and table tennis as well as Mobile Legend. — (FREEMAN)
