Militiaman killed in South Cotabato ambush

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A member of the government militia was killed while two others were wounded in an ambush in Polomolok, South Cotabato on Monday.
Jerald Flungcay died at the scene of the attack that occurred in Barangay Sulit.
Reports said Ryan Paulo Maslog and his father, Wilfredo, were hit by stray bullets. They were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Flungcay was on a motorcycle on his way home from work when unidentified armed men waylaid him.
Probers said the attack could be related to Flungcay’s active involvement in police anti-crime operations and in the military’s intelligence missions against communist and terrorist groups.
Meanwhile, in Basilan, two people were killed in an attack in Sumisip town on Sunday.
Husni Hassadin and Uddin Amigos were on a motorcycle when they were assaulted by gunmen who were waiting for them along the highway in Barangay Marang, according to Capt. Steffi Salanguit, spokesperson for the Bangsamoro police.
Probers said the killing could be due to a clan war.
