MANILA, Philippines - Although TV5 has shows which became known and popular through international franchises (like Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, Million Peso Money Drop and The Amazing Race Philippines), the network also prides itself on having original programs which have become its signature local treasures.

There’s Talentadong Pinoy, Face to Face, Pinoy Explorer and even local series like Kidlat and the recently-concluded Enchanted Garden.

A new show which premiered on TV5 this month is Jeepney Jackpot Pera o Para. Tagged as the “only game show on wheels,” Jeepney Jackpot replaced Sharon Cuneta’s program (Sharon Kasama Mo Kapatid) and airs weekdays, 5 p.m.

The new show is hosted by Mr. Fu and Valeen Montenegro, with Saida Diola (who also joined The Amazing Race Philippines with Jervi) as the Premyo Girl giving away prizes and Driver Sweet Lover (Alison) Andres who’s behind the wheels.

The 30-ft.-long jeepney serves as the mobile studio for the show. The jeepney is on a roll from the start and picks up lucky passengers who become contestants. The hosts ask questions and six contestants guess the answers. “Basta quick thinker, lucky winner.”

The game has three levels — Green, Yellow and Red. In each level, contestants get eliminated but with take home cash and other prizes. Green level asks four general knowledge questions. The first two to fail to answer will be eliminated in the first round of questions, but will take home P1,000 in cash and minor prizes.

Yellow level only has two questions about numbers or money matters. The two who failed to answer get P3,000 and minor prizes. For the Red level, the two remaining contestants get to answer only one question, the “Surf Question of the Day.” The one who answers correctly wins the round. The non-winning contestant takes home a consolation prize of P5,000 and other prizes.

At the end of the three levels, only one lucky contestant ends up winning P20,000. Then he gets a choice between Pera o Para.

Para ends the game with the contestant opting to take home P20,000. However, the remaining contestant gets a chance to win bigger cash prize if he chooses to complete the final challenge or Pera for the jackpot round.

The final task sees the contestant completing the challenge for her to win an additional P30,000 for a total cash prize of P50,000, plus gift packs from sponsors, appliances and other exciting prizes.

At this point, the final challenge has to be completed outside the jeepney and on-ground. Kalsada king and queen Mr. Fu and Valeen join the remaining contestant and they all go into one destination. Given a time of five minutes, the contestant needs to complete the challenge in order to win.

The winner in the pilot episode was a fire victim during Christmas who got to take home P50,000 in cash and other prizes.

The game show is a joyride for passengers who become contestants and are given a chance to win cash and more prizes.
