New college grad wins mega jackpot in Wil Time Bigtime

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - “’Nay, bumalik ka na bukas. Umuwi ka na.” That’s what a tearful Joanne Platon uttered when TV5’s Wil Time Bigtime main host Willie Revillame revealed that she just became the program’s fifth mega jackpot winner in what could be the luckiest night of her life last April 30.

A fresh graduate of Mass Communication from Tanauan, Batangas, 20-year-old Joanne vowed that her mother would no longer need to work abroad as a caregiver after winning the mega jackpot worth over P3.5 million — including P1M cash courtesy of Cebuana Lhuillier, a livelihood van from Foton and a house and lot from Camella. This way, according to Joanne, she could pay back all the hardships her mother has endured to help her father raise their family even if it meant attending to all the needs of her 10 elderly patients as a caregiver in Taiwan.

Accompanied by her father who is a street-food vendor, Joanne was filled with determination and was in high spirits to make it to the show’s jackpot round. “Maraming, maraming salamat po. ’Yung dating pag-asa at baka-sakaling bitbit namin galing Batangas, ngayon natupad na,” said Joanne.

Wil Time Bigtime airs weeknights at 6:30 and on Saturdays at 5 p.m.
