Spotlight workshops slated

MANILA, Philippines - Spotlight Artists Centre announces its new set of workshops for the second half of 2010.

The musical theater workshop runs from June 21 to July 26, (M-W-F), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1 to 4 p.m. In 16 sessions, learn the basics of modern-day musical theater from world-renowned stage performers Robert Seña, Isay Alvarez and Tricia Amper-Jimenez, featuring a comprehensive and relevant integrated acting syllabus that includes voice, acting and dancing. The series culminates in a grand production that features excerpts from well-loved, classic musicals.

The contemporary dance workshop starts June 17 until Aug. 5, (T-Th), 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Groove to the latest trends in modern dance, featuring a fusion of hip-hop, R&B, jazz and street dancing popularized by some of today’s hottest dance crews.

Paolo O’Hara’s advance acting workshop kicks off July 6 until Sept. 30, (Tuesdays to Thursdays). Take your acting to a higher level through a more in-depth, holistic approach that addresses the specific demands of stage, TV, movie and other acting genres. Topics include scene/script analysis, auditioning for TV/plays, monologues, reading and building a character.

Musical theater (regular class) opens July 31 and ends Dec. 11, (Saturdays), 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1 to 5 p.m.     

The school offers individual lessons for voice, guitar, piano, violin, drums and karaoke singing.
