SUCs get SoKor tech transfer training
MANILA, Philippines — Six state universities and colleges (SUCs) in Region 4-B or Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) were provided training on technology management and commercialization by tech strategy experts of South Korea’s Hanyang University.
The training and workshop on technology transfer was made possible through the efforts of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). It seeks to promote the transfer of technologies developed by the SUCs in Mimaropa as well as to promote the adoption of emerging technologies in the region.
A need for the sharing of tech transfer expertise with the six state universities arose after their researchers and scientists developed a number of technologies that need a big push to turn them into commercial products that generate revenues, according to DOST-Mimaropa regional director Ma. Josefina Abilay.
The six Mimaropa SUCs were identified as Romblon State University, Palawan State University, Western Philippine University, Marinduque State College, Mindoro State College of Agriculture and Technology in Oriential Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro State College.
