CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) earned P333,000 from the terminal fees of buses that travelled during the Holy week.

Starting Holy Wednesday to Black Saturday, a total of 2,220 bus trips were recorded and an estimated 122,100 passengers flocked to the terminal.

CSBT Manager Joey Herrera said the highest recorded income during the four day-trip at the terminal during the Lenten season was during Holy Wednesday, when 689 buses travelled and used the terminal. The generated income that day was P103,350.

Herrera said the income from the terminal fees is based on the number of bus trips multiplied by the P150 terminal fee.

The Holy Thursday had 663 buses that travelled to and from the terminal which resulted to P99,450 in earnings.

Herrera said it was also on Holy Wednesday and Thursday that they were able to record the highest number of passengers that went to the terminal, where some even had to wait for almost five hours before they were able to ride a bus.

Herrera said there were passengers who went to the terminal around 8 p.m. and was able to ride the bus at around 1a.m.

"Either kulang ang bus or daghan ra kaayo ang pasahero.  Gusto nila mo-byahe og gabii kay una gikan nag half-day unya maayo na ibyahe kay wala nay init, so dili na ma-ato sa atong mga buses," Herrera explained.

Last Good Friday, there were only 307 bus trips recorded.  The CSBT earned P46,050 on that day.

On Black Saturday, the CSBT earned P84,000  for the 560 bus trips.

Herrea added that there were eight passengers that were attended to by their medical personnel at the terminal where most of them lost consciousness during the Holy Week.

The CSBT management has suggested to the bus operators to adjust scheduling of the buses at the terminal.

"Ang scheduling of buses maoy importante, nga like for instance 8 in the evening until 3 in the morning, imbes 30 minutes dapat every 15 minutes unta.  Kay ang i-rason usab sa mga bus operators kay kanang alas 8, ang mga bus drivers ana nila naka duha na og byahe so medyo kapoy na.  Or init pa kaayo ang ligid (sa bus), ipahulay pa nila og dugay.  So, mao na nga mao na usa sa among nakita nga kinahanglan og right scheduling lang bitaw," Herrera said.
