CEBU, Philippines — Former world title challenger Robert “Super Inggo” Paradero will headline the inaugural edition of “Bakbakan sa Masbate” boxing series presented by Governor Antonio Kho’s  ATK Promotions slated on Saturday, April 20, at the Cataingan Astrodome in  Cataingan, Masbate.

The 27-year-old Paradero from Bukidnon will exchange blows with Charlie Pizon Malupangue of Zamboanga del Norte in a non-title duel scheduled for eight rounds under the flyweight division.

As a pro, Paradero made an impression after winning his first 18 ring assignments.

But Paradero’s career went on a downward spiral when he faltered in his quest for the World Boxing Association (WBA) minimumweight title by split decision to fellow countryman Vic “Vicious” Saludar on February 20, 2021 at the Binan City Football Stadium in Laguna.

Since then, Paradero six consecutive losses, including another heart-breaking split decision to ARQ Stable’s April Jay “Astroboy” Abne in their OPBF Silver flyweight championship match on August 15 last year at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.

Paradero hopes to end his seven-fight jinx as he tackles Malupangue, who holds a 9-11-4 record with 6KOs.

The rest of the slam-bang show features  Sherwin Dacullo against Sandre Paderan, Datu Adam versus Jerry Tabago, and Joy Ebcas opposite Christian Salazar.

Before the pro action, 20 amateur bouts have been lined up to entertain the crowd.

“We want to showcase the skills of young talents in Masbate who are eager to embrace the world of boxing. We want to  help these aspiring kids achieve their dreams of becoming elite fighters and future champions of the sport,” said Masbate Governor Antonio Kho in a statement. — (FREEMAN)
