Cebu’s Ando still queen of Hidilyn Diaz Open
CEBU, Philippines — Promising Cebuana lifter Elreen Ann Ando came up with a more improved performance in successfully defending her. crown in the 2nd Hidilyn Diaz Weightlifting Championships at the Meralco Gym in Pasig City yesterday.
From her 186 kgs. total last year, Ando came up with 200 kgs. total this time to stay as champion in the women’s 63 kgs. category.
The University of Cebu (UC) varsity posted a 90 kgs. best in the snatch and 110 kgs. in the clean and jerk.
Earlier this month, Ando also ruled the National Students Weightlifting Championships held at the Ayala Center Cebu with 180kgs. total.
Ando’s townmate Dexter Tabique won silver via the men’s 85 kgs. division after lifting 115 kgs. in the snatch and 146 kgs. in the clean and jerk for a total of 261 kilograms. (FREEMAN)
