CFGA wins 34-below title of FCA caging

CEBU, Philippines - The CFGA Kingdom Builders of coach Abel Bungcaras clipped the wings of Faith Tabernacle Eagles to clinch the 34-below championship of the 4th Federation of Christian Athletes (FCA) Basketball League last Sunday at the Cebu Coliseum.

Jerome Napao and Jun Kent Manzo unloaded 14 points each, while former commercial star Rey de la Victoria chipped in 10 markers for CFGA, which cruised to a 17-14 start.

CFGA  mellowed down in the second quarter, allowing Faith Eagles to grab the upperhand at halftime, 24-22, but found its offensive bearing in the third to wrest back the driver's seat, 36-32.

CFGA sustained its momentum in the closing minutes of the contest to walk away with a nine-point victory.

Christian Floyd Taboada paced Faith Eagles with a game-high 20 points, while Erick Edfel martelino had 15 points in a losing cause.

Earlier,  Kareem Alocillo and John Alocillo conspired for 31 points and Joffer Hernando added a dozen markers as CCF demolished the PC Nets, 82-59, to claim the third place honors.

CCF was never threatened after jumping off to a hot 28-16 start. Their lead ballooned to 23 points at the break, 44-21, and the rest was history.

Ramfel Tundag was the lone double-digit scorer for PC Nets with 10.

Meanwhile, Joshua Theo Flores of CFGA topped the list of individual awardees after being crowned as tournament MVP.

The Mythical Five, on the other hand, is composed of Axel Joseph Rabaya, Franz Dysam, Kareem Alocillo, Adelfo Delgado, and Jeromne Napao. The rest of the honorees were Wesly Yasi (3-point king), Adelfo Delgado (best in rebound), Christian Floyd Taboaba (best in assist), and Leo Labiste (best in defense).
