Cebu rules PNG beach volley, dancesport

CEBU, Philippines - Team Cebu City spikers swept all golds in beach volleyl event of the 2013 POC-PSC Philippine National Games in Manila yesterday.

Jusabelle Brillo and Apple Eve Saraum trounced Mandaue's Rapril Aguilar and Suzette Panis in straight sets, 21-15, 21-13 in an all-Cebu showdown to snatch the women's crown. Brillo is a star player from the University of the Visayas who once had a stint with the Philippine Team, while Saraum is a former mainstay of the University of the Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF).

In the men's division , Jonrey Sasing and Edward Ybañez of Team Cebu City bested the UV-manned Mandaue squad of Jade Becaldo and Mike Abria, 21-15, 21-13 in the finals.

It was actually a clean sweep by the Cebuanos as Edmar Bonono and Rommel Pepito settled for bronze in the men's division after edging out fellow local players Chris Roy Guzman and Alfafara.

In dancesport , Team Cebu City hauled 12 golds, two silvers and two bronzes.

Among those who contributed golds for Cebu City were Jeffrey Benarao and Mary Mae Canillo with four via the youth latin A,B,C and D class, Bert Kevin Diluvio and Jam Flores in the novice latin, Zjiane Troy and Zjiana Tracy Villarta with three golds through the standard youth, and Davin Unabia and Eleanor Hayco in the standard senior B. Hayco and Wilbert Aunzo also got two golds in the SE-4 dance and SE 5-dance latin as Romeo Jay Cialbo and May Pabuaya grabbed a pair of gilts via the novice & SE1f 3-dance standard division.  (FREEMAN)
