All set for CPPO PD’s Cup shootfest

EBV - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - It's all systems go for the P/SSupt. Patrocinio A. Comendador, Jr. Shootfest 2012 billed as the "CPPO PD's Cup" slated on December 7-9 at the Cebu Pistol and Rifle Association (CPRA) Firing Range in Brgy. Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City.

Over a hundred shooting enthusiasts are expected to see action in the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Level I sanctioned match.

Founded in 1976, IPSC was established to promote, maintain, improve and advance the sport of shooting, to safeguard its principles and to regulate its conduct worldwide in order to cultivate the safe, recreational use of firearms by persons of good character. Accuracy, power, and speed were recognized as the quintessential elements and have become the foundation of IPSC shooting.

Presented by the Cebu Provincial Police Office in association with the CPRA, the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) and the Philippine Practical Shooting Association (PPSA), the three-day joust features a total of 14 stages.

Both IPSC and IDPA cover five stages of 104 and 64 rounds, respectively. The remaining four Rifle stages have a total of 100 rounds.

The event is open not only to the members of the police and military force but also to civilians and other private individuals who want to test their marksmanship and shooting proficiency.

For further details, interested parties may contact P/Insp. Lucia Diaz at 0943-3280506. (FREEMAN)
