CEBU, Philippines - Krav Maga, the martial arts first developed for the Israeli Defense Force in the early 50s and since then developed into a self-defense system for VIP security and civilians, will be offered for interested Cebuanos during the first Krav Maga seminar in Cebu at the Cebu City Sports Club from  1 to 5 pm on July 28 and 29.

International Krav Maga Federation Philippines (IKMF-PH) Chief Instructor Dindo de Jesus will teach, among others, tackling common knife attacks and gun threats from the rear. This will be an eight-hour seminar that gives its participants hands on training on the latest Krav Maga techniques.

Krav Maga is the most effective self defense system offered today. Krav Maga is easily learned and implemented quickly. This system is accessible to anyone interested in learning self defense techniques with the aim to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Krav Maga was founded and developed originally by Imi (Lichtenfeld) Sde-Or for military purposes and meant to improve combat abilities of Israeli Israeli Defense Force (IDF) soldiers in the early 50's. Over the years the Kravmaga systems was further developed by Imi to provide self defense solutions for the civil sector as well.

Nowadays, Krav Maga is providing self defense solutions to a broader variety of sectors, among which are:

Civilian sector – offering and teaching self defense qualifications to adults, women, and children. Each carefully adapted to match the variable needs of every sub sector.

Military Sector – offering and teaching self defense qualifications to soldiers aimed to widen their combat abilities as individual soldiers and as a part of a unit.

Law Enforcement - offering and teaching self defense qualifications to police officers and governmental units.

VIP sector – offering and teaching all professional levels of Third Side protection defenses (krav maga oriented).

Headed by Avi Moyal, its chairman, the organization remains forever loyal to the famous phrasing by Imi:”So that one may walk in peace”.

It is IKMF's ongoing task to reach out to as many individuals in as many possible countries and provide them with self defense tools that will allow them to self defend effectively and eliminate danger so that everyone may walk in peace.  (FREEMAN)

— Caecent No-ot Magsumbol

CEBU, Philippines - Parading a brand new Suzuki NEX 115 spelled big difference for Team Suzuki BMR as it made waves in the second leg of the Castrol Power 1-presented Regional Underbone Grand Prix (RUGP) Series at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.

“Naging Maganda yung race ng Team Suzuki BMR because it was the race debut for the new model Suzuki NEX 115,” said Suzuki BMR playing coach-manager Bobby Mencias.

Louie Chan dominated both heats of the beginners 130 automatic for a solid first place finish.

Mario Borbon placed second in the expert open automatic and third in the expert open underbone, while Paul Anthony Mencias wound up third in the novice 160 automatic.

Paul’s dad Bobby Mencias also saw action in the expert open underbone but with another bike model so he can compare the power of Suzuki NEX 115. He placed third in the initial heat, but crashed in the final heat to settle for only sixth place.

“It was a very successful race for Team Suzuki BMR because the NEX 115 first race gave us a podium finish. We are the first to race the NEX 115 in the whole of Asia. Wala pa nakapag-race ng NEX anywhere in Asia,” said Bobby Mencias. (FREEMAN)
