Gaisano Tisa nails first win in Partner's Cup hoop

- GGM -

CEBU, Philippines - Like father, like son. Arvin Kim Gomez hit crucial baskets including a momentum-building triple as the Gaisano Tisa-UC Webmasters subdued San Marino Corned Tuna/USPF Panthers, 84-73, for its first win in the 6th CESAFI Partner's Cup men's basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.

Games today (Cebu Coliseum)

5 pm KIA Motors/CIT-U vs. Gaisano Tisa-UC

6:45 pm San Marino vs. Lion Tiger/USJ-R

Arvin, son of the more illustrious UC head coach Roel Gomez, paced Gaisano Tisa with 17 points followed by Roel Villanueva with 12.

Dennis Ferraren and Joseph Sedurifa tried to help San Marino rise above the waters with their impressive outside sniping, but wily playmaker Alfrancis Tamsi came to Gaisano's rescue by finding his open teammates to make their shots a little bit easier.

Ferraren scattered 18 points for San Marino, which crashed to its third straight defeat, while Sedurifa, who is reportedly bound to the Jose Rizal University (JRU) Heavy Bombers when the June classes begins, added 14 points in a losing cause.

The 1-1 Gaisano Tisa could savor its second victory today, but it cannot take the KIA Motors lightly in their showdown set at 5 pm.
