Saulog dominates 4th leg, but Popeye keeps lead

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -
Cebuano Popeye Rubi stayed on top of the heap, even as one of the country's most decorated riders, Jovie Saulog, won the fourth leg of the Cebu Boardwalk Motocross Series the other day in Ormoc City.

Saulog claimed both the expert open and 125 class titles, relegating Rubi of Shell-Yamaha-Quickflight to a pair of second place finishes.

Despite Saulog's victory, the 23-year-old Rubi kept his hold of the lead in overall standings as he topped the first three legs.

Popeye's father, Pepo Rubi, wound up third in expert open, while Dennis Ollave copped the third place trophy in the expert 125 class.

The other Rubi, Andot, also made his presence felt by dominating the veterans class over teammate Aloy Igot and Andy Krickl.

Former Shell-Yamaha coach Dodong Galla is also back in the limelight after winning the executive division title over another Quickflight rider Solomon Canoy.

Jon-jon Flores also showed out his might at the racetrack to walk away with the 65 cc class crown.

Ambo Yapparcon sealed Quickflight's bid with a double victory through the beginners and novice production.

The fast-rising Kimboy Pineda won the intermediate division against fellow rider from AGR Racing, Rodel Cameros, as Bejie Ollave,Jr. was third.

The 125 enduro saw Guimaras' Michael Desbaro winning the title over Surigao's Jed Luna and Quickflight's Bonnie Bustillo.
