More Pfizer vaccines for kids arrive

CEBU, Philippines —  Over 1.8 million doses of Pfizer reformulated vaccines for kids have arrived in the country with the aim of increasing the coverage of vaccination for the youngest eligible population ahead of the planned physical graduation and regular face-to-face classes.

The latest delivery came in two batches on March 23 and 24 procured by the national government through the World Bank.

The national government aims to fully immunize 15 million children belonging to the 5 to 11 age group.

Vaccines have been proven to protect adults and kids alike from different diseases including COVID-19.

More schools including in Cebu are hoping to return to face-to-face classes while a physical graduation for this school-year is also being pushed.

With this, health experts are also continuing to encourage parents and their children to get vaccinated now.

Special vaccination days are also being set for Cebu on March 29 and 30 with the youngest eligible population expected to be included.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education started its early registration yesterday for the school-year 2022-2023.

For those that have not yet enlisted, parents and students have until April 30 to do so.

As stipulated in the basic education policy, all incoming kindergarten, grades 1, 7 and 11 in all public schools have to pre-register while the other grade levels are considered as pre-registered. Already and need not participate in the early registration.

This is done to prepare schools ahead of the new school year.

Private schools are also encouraged to conduct early registration activities on the same time frame. — GMR (FREEMAN)
