Danao bans videoke, karaoke on weekdays

CEBU, Philippines — The city government of Danao has joined other local government units in the Province of Cebu in banning karaoke and videoke sessions in the city.

Danao City Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III issued an executive order enforcing a ban on karaoke and videoke sessions and other noisy activities on specified periods.

The order came after the LGU received complaints from its constituents regarding loud noise disrupting students under online classes and distance learning.

“There is a need to help and support those learners who are already having a hard time in adjusting the online classes and distance learning activities from home and having difficulty due to poor internet connection and to make their distance learning experience easier,” read the order.

Under EO No. 52, private karaoke and videoke are prohibited from operating and playing on weekdays except on Fridays from 5:00 p.m. to 10: p.m. and on Saturdays from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

“Public karaoke and videoke are prohibited” said the order.

Meanwhile, noise activities such as partying, hard roared screams, distractive shouts and playing loud music such as amplified sound system in both public and private places shall be strictly prohibited from Sunday to Friday.

The same goes to vehicles with amplified sound system.

Barangay officials are directed to monitor in their respective places to ensure that residents are in compliance with the order.

They can coordinate with PNP Danao City Covid Task Force for apprehension of violators who will be held liable of the existing laws and ordinances. — GMR (FREEMAN)
