CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) is set to form a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) that would focus on the robbery and the suspected arson of the headquarters of a company that is soliciting investment in return of lifetime monthly returns.

CPPO Chief Manuel Abrugena told The FREEMAN in a phone interview that they will be forming the SITG to track if there was an inside job, after a fire razed the headquarters of KAPA Community Ministry Foundation in Compostela, Cebu.

“We are not yet sure, kasi ongoing pa rin yung investigation.  Wala kaming nakikitang signs or clues na may kinalaman ang empleyado sa nangyari,” he said.

Last Saturday, at least 10 armed men reportedly robbed and burned the KAPA headquarters, which was just some 400 meters away from the Compostela Police Station.

During the robbery, there were 21 stay-in employees inside the office.

The employees were not harmed but their valuables were carted away, along with an undetermined amount of money from KAPA’s vault.

Abrugena said that he has directed the cops to question all the 21 employees that survived the fire last Saturday dawn.

“There is an ongoing questioning of the 21 employees, including the security guards that were on duty during that time,” he said.

Abrugena added that the cops are also checking on the closed circuit television footages that may have captured the plate number of the getaway vehicle.

He said they are prioritizing the case, in time with the recent pronouncement of President Rodrigo Duterte decrying the alleged pyramid scheme of KAPA.

“Ang pangyayari ay timely sa pronouncement ng ating (pangulo).  (The) advice is to focus and immediately solve the case,” he said.

He urged the community to immediately report to the authorities any information that may help with the ongoing investigation.

“Ang advise po natin is to help the policemen and report if mayroon silang information,” he said. (FREEMAN)
