Jealous guard shoots another guard to death

CEBU, Philippines - A 27-year-old security guard was shot dead by another security guard along R. Duterte Street, Banawa, Guadalupe, Cebu City yesterday morning.

Raul Arsolon, a native of Kinatarcan, Bantayan town and was temporarily staying in Barangay Pasil, suffered a gunshot wound to his chest after allegedly being shot by Charlito Llanto Jr., 30.

Arsolon of Mishem Security Agency and Manpower Services is assigned at Country Homes in Banawa while Llanto of Arco Force Security Agency is a guard at a remittance center beside the subdivision.

 Cebu City Police Office Homicide Investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Ruth Violango cited jealousy as the motive behind the killing.

 Eunela Romero, 29, the suspect’s live-in partner and the victim’s fellow security guard at the subdivision, witnessed the incident.

 According to Romero, she was about to replace Arsolon, who was preparing to go home, when Llanto entered the guardhouse.

 The suspect then allegedly said “Sakpan na gyud mo” and immediately shot Arsolon in the chest.

 Violango said that Llanto has been suspecting that Arsolon and Romero have an affair.

Romero also described Llanto as a jealous partner.

The victim was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Rudy Kilat, supervisor of the victim, described Arsolon as a good security guard, saying that the victim has no bad record in the company in his two years of service.

 “Sayang g’yud kaayo siya kay maayo man siya motrabaho. Ibalhin na man unta siya og laing puwesto nga taas og sweldo apan gibalibaran sa iyang gitrabahoan karon kay nakauyon sila sa serbisyo ni Arsolon,” he said.

 He said the company assured full financial support to the victim’s family.

 Since there was no empty shell recovered from the crime scene, Violango believed that a revolver was used by the suspect.

 Charlie Calimpon of Acro Force Security Agency said that the company may file a separate case against Llanto, who allegedly stole the service firearm issued by the agency to him.

 Llanto managed to escape after shooting the victim but later surrendered to authorities. He is currently detained at the Guadalupe Police Station.   (FREEMAN)
