Shabu seized from couple, son-in-law

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A couple and their son-in-law were arrested after they were seized with several packs of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City late Saturday night.

Operatives of the City Intelligence Branch and City Anti illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group swooped down on Fe “Perot” Badayos immediately after she sold a pack of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer.

The police also arrested Badayos’ husband Edward Badayos, allegedly an employee of Cebu City Hall, and their son-in-law Peter Bacalan, 18, who both reportedly assisted in selling the illegal drugs.

At least 34 sachets of suspected shabu amounting to P10,000 and P4,100 cash believed to be proceeds of the illegal drug trade were recovered from the suspects.

CIB chief Superintendent Romeo Santander said they received a text message and a letter complaining the illegal activity of the female Badayos, which they were able to confirm through surveillance.

The suspects will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, on the same day, a suspected drug pusher eluded arrest in another buy-bust operation in Barangay Day-as.

Richard Parame jumped off the window of his house and eventually escaped from the police.

Inside Parame’s house, operatives recovered three packs of suspected shabu, a cal. 38 revolver loaded with ammunition and several drug paraphernalia.

CIB is set to file cases for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions against the suspect even if he is at large. (FREEMAN)
