64 service offices monitored closely

CEBU, Philippines - In order to ensure quality service from government offices, the Civil Service Commission in Central Visayas is monitoring closely the performance of nine agencies in the region.

Government offices have been subjected to a Report Card Survey  in compliance with the Anti-Red Tape Act  since 2011.

This year, CSC 7 public assistance and liaison division chief Prolaine Daclan revealed that RCS focuses on 64 service offices in nine agencies all over the region.

These include the Land Transportation Office, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Government Service Insurance Services, Social Security Services, Land Registration Authority, Philippine Health insurance, Professional Regulation Commission, PAGIBIG Fund, and Philippine Statistics Office (formerly National Statistics Office).

Daclan disclosed that LTO 7 failed in the first two RCS this year with five offices failing to meet standards, including the operations division, licensing, Lapu-Lapu City extension, Driver’s License Renewal Center, and Dumaguete branch.

Despite getting a failing mark, the offices will be given a chance to shape up in time for the second RCS later this year, Daclan said.

The most important criterion in getting a passing mark is for a government office to comply with all the provisions and requirements of the ARTA, as well as getting the overall client satisfaction.

Satisfaction includes, among others, quality of service, proper ventilation of the physical setup, and an environment that is friendly to Persons with Disabilities and pregnant women.

In the event that the office fails the two RCS of the year, the regional CSC will forward the results and assessment to the legal division of the central office for appropriate action. —  (FREEMAN)
