CEBU, Philippines - A man who allegedly has more than twenty records of theft in some barangays in Cebu was arrested on Saturday after recently taking more than P100,000 worth of items and cash from a residence in Cebu City.

Norman Sayson, a resident of Barangay Quiot, Cebu City, was arrested in Barangay Duljo Fatima on Saturday morning, a day after Vicente Sabare, a resident of Barangay Quiot, reported that he lost things and cash worth more than P100,000 on Friday.

Recovered from Sayson were three digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras, two cellular phones, a silver necklace, a wrist watch, and cash worth P13,000.

“Marami ng incidents ng lungkab sa past that leads point to him,” said Police Senior Superintendent Noli Andrade Romana, City Director of Cebu City Police Office.

Romana said that the suspect has already more than 20 previous complaints of theft from residents of barangay Basak.

The modus of the suspect is to roam around the area of his target house in the morning, selling apples and forcing the owners to buy while going inside the house so he could look around.

At dawn, Sayson would allegedly go back and break into the house.

Sayson refused to comment on the allegations and clarified that he only sold apples four years ago.

Sayson is said to have a lookout who is still being hunted by authorities.

Romana said that Sayson is of high value to them because he might be the key to the arrest of other thieves in the city.

“I hope na merong previous cases na ma so-solve natin with his arrest,” said Romana.

Romana encourages victims to file a formal complaint so previous cases will be resolved.

Sayson is currently detained at the city police detention cell as cases are set to be filed against him. (FREEMAN)
