Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Almost 40 small packets of shabu were seized by the Liloan police from three suspects whom they caught in the act of having in possession the illegal drugs in Barangay Yati 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The shabu were about to be sold by suspects Ramil Acapalco, 20, construction worker, and his companion Bobby Basubas, 32, carpenter, when they were arrested by the police led by SPO1 Ryan Batiquin.

Jonathan Villegas, of Cebu City and cohort of the suspects, eluded the arrest.

Recovered from them were 36 packets of shabu worth P7, 200. The pieces of evidence were taken to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory-7 in Camp Sotero Cabahug, Cebu City for chemical analysis.

Police were conducting mobile patrol at the area when they sighted the suspects acting suspiciously at a dim portion of the road, prompting the police to approach them.

“Nasigpatan namo sila nga namaligya unya aduna naman mi info nga naa gyud kuno na diha,” Batiquin said in a phone interview.

Upon seeing the shabu in the possession of the suspects, police immediately arrested them.

Batiquin said they lost grip of Villegas who resisted the arrest.

“Nakuptan namo siya pero pwerteng lugnot mao to nakadagan,” he said, adding that illegal drugs confiscated from Acapalco and Basubas came from Villegas who also allegedly acquired the shabu from Cebu City.

“Tigtagak gyud ni si Villegas pero kanang duha taga-diha na unya mao nay iyang tagaka-nan,” Batiquin disclosed.

Suspects are now detained at Liloan Police Station stockade pending filing of charges for violation of Section 11 of R.A. 9165 or Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. —/JMD (FREEMAN)
