CEBU, Philippines - To help address the immediate needs of Boholanos affected by the strong earthquake on Tuesday, The FREEMAN Foundation will give relief goods and medicines.

This, as the University of the Visayas (UV) called on its alumni, faculty, staff, students, and all Cebuanos to help the people of Bohol and Cebu through the Visayanian “Tabang sa (Help for) Cebu ug (and) Bohol”.

UV Executive Vice President Jose “Dodong” R. Gullas said it has always been part of the university’s culture to help those in need.

“We helped our brothers and sisters in Guinsaugon, Southern Leyte; in Cagayan de Oro City; and in Guihunglan, Negros (Oriental). Now it is time to help our fellow Cebuanos and our neighbor Boholanos,” he said.

Starting today, the UV Main Campus in Colon St., Cebu City and the Gullas Medical Center in Banilad, Cebu City are accepting donations of bottled water, canned goods and other ready-to-eat foods.

Similarly, The FREEMAN Foundation is also accepting cash or goods for the earthquake victims in Bohol.

Dr. Remedios Bacasmas, The FREEMAN Foundation coordinator, said they will be distributing 300 packs of groceries to 300 families in a particular barangay in Bohol severely affected by the earthquake.

“The foundation decided to give relief goods that include rice.…Anytime, we will be going to Bohol,” she said.

She added that if needed, she added they would conduct a medical check-up in the said barangay.

Those who want to donate, they can deposit their cash at Philippine Savings Bank-Pelaez Branch account number 058-112-00022-1 under the name of The FREEMAN Foundation, Inc.
