CEBU, Philippines - Police arrested 12 alleged coordinators and ushers of an illegal numbers game in simultaneous raids conducted by the different police stations in Cebu City last Friday night.

The police, including the operatives of the City Intelligence Branch, also seized over 10 gambling machines such as bingo, video karera and moli-moli during the respective raids on illegal numbers games such as Swertres and Masiao.

CIB and the 11 police stations under the Cebu City Police Office conducted the raids that resulted to the arrest of the suspects who were identified as coordinators and ushers of the illegal numbers game.

Most of the suspects were reportedly caught in the act of tallying and playing the gambling machines.

Punta Princesa Police Station chief, Chief Insp. Renero Agustin, said the raids were conducted with the aim to make Cebu totally free from illegal numbers games.

Agustin said more raids will be conducted in the future to arrest the financiers of all forms of illegal gambling in the city and manufacturers of gambling machines.

Police in Cebu and the rest of the Central Visayas have been intensifying their efforts against illegal gambling as per the directive of Police Regional Office-7 director Marcelo Garbo Jr. (FREEMAN)
