CEBU, Philippines -  At least eight more primary and secondary schools in the Province of Cebu will get funding from the national government under the General Appropriations Act.

The eight schools are among the 41 Bills that were approved by the Senate Committee on Education chaired by Senator Edgardo Angara.

Cebu first district Rep. Eduardo Gullas moved for the approval of the 41 measures during the joint committee hearing last November 27, 2012.

Of the 41 measures, Gullas authored six while fourth district Rep. Benhur Salimbangon authored  two.

Gullas authored the House Bills that established the Lanas National High School; Calavera Primary School; Cabuan Primary School; Mayana National High School; and Mainit National High School all in the City of Naga and the Tungkil National High School in Minglanilla.

Salimbangon on the other hand authored measures separating at least two national high schools in the municipality of Daanbanta-yan from Calape National High School.

At present, secondary schools in Barangays Logon and Paypay are annexed to Calape National High School.

Salimbangon proposed that Logon and Paypay National High Schools shall be converted into independent national schools.
