Over 100 JOs face work reassignment

- Jessica Ann R. Pareja - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - More than 100 job order employees hired by the Cebu City Local School Board were interviewed at the Office of the Mayor last Friday.

It was to their surprise, but the job order personnel were relieved when they were asked only basic questions about their job.

The job order personnel’s contract ended yesterday. Whether they will be renewed or not is up to the mayor.

Secretary to the Mayor Belinda Navascues assured that all the job order personnel they interviewed will be renewed, but there might be changes in their assignments.

The interview is part of their monitoring process, she said, to make sure that all JOs in the list they were provided are reporting to their duties. Navascues said that all JOs were accounted for.

Navascues said that some JOs might be reassigned so all schools will have the adequate number of JOs that will assist them.

“We just want to make sure nga naa sila where they are needed,” she said.

During the recent Brigada Eskwela, the Mayor’s Team discovered a lot of things to be fixed and needs immediate repair, which puzzled the mayor’s office what the JOs have been working on.

There are about 170 job order personnel hired for schools. They work as foreman and janitors, among others.

“We want to make sure na equal ang ilang distribution to schools kay basin naa’y mga schools na gamay ra ang JOs and naa sad daghan ra kaayo,” Navascues said.

Navascues and Human Resourced Development personnel conducted the interview.

Aside from the inventory, the interview was also conducted to serve as venue to solve other issues concerning the personnel.

“We also called them to clarify some issues. Naa man gud to sila’y reklamo sa una nga delayed ilang sweldo. Amo silang gitudluan unsa’y buhaton,” Navascues said.

She said that the reasons for the delay include their late submission of requirements needed for the approval of the payroll and the release of the salaries.

“They do not even know that they have to submit their DTRs (Daily Time Record) by the end of the month. Wa sila kahibawo na daghang requirements ang gobyerno,” Navascues said.

One payroll consists of about 30 employees and one late employee drags the others on the list.

Navascues said they told them the importance of accomplishing and submitting all the requirements on-time to avoid delays in the future.

Meanwhile, Mayor Michael Rama said he will transfer the processing of payrolls for the day-care teachers back to the Department of Social Welfare and Services.

This after the day-care teachers complained again of their one-month late salary. (FREEMAN)
