4Ps program bringing aid to Santa Fe town

- Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon -

CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Social Welfare and Development-7 continues to give out cash grants to indigent beneficiaries in the region.

Just yesterday, DSWD officials together with Cebu Sixth District Rep. Benhur Salimbangon gave a total of P4.2 million cash grants for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in the municipality of Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island, Cebu.

Salimbangon said 1,917 beneficiaries received the cash grant.

Salimbangon further reiterated that it is not him who shall determine who are the beneficiaries of the program but the DSWD.

The congressman also expressed alarm after it came to his attention that he is allegedly politicizing the program by choosing only his political supporters as beneficiaries.

Salimbangon said that there is no politicizing in the giving of the cash grant.

Under the 4Ps program, indigent families shall receive P500 and an additional P300 for each child 14 years old and below per month.

This is a five-year program of the government which started 2010.

The 4Ps is a program of the national government implemented by the DSWD in cooperation with the Department of Health, Department of Education, Department of Interior and Local Government, National Anti-Poverty Commission, LandBank of the Philippines and the National Nutrition Commission. (FREEMAN)
