Hundreds benefit from "Halad sa Kapamilya"

- Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja -

CEBU, Philippines - Hundreds have benefited from various forms of assistance offered yesterday by the University of the Visayas and ABS-CBN Broadcasting Company.

Dubbed the Halad sa Kapamilya, the event was held at the UV main campus along Colon Street, Cebu City.

Lawyer Boy Alo, a UV professor and one of those who rendered paralegal services, said the university also offered medical, dental, engineering, and reflex services.

As of 12 p.m. yesterday, Alo said at least 50 people have availed of paralegal services on land disputes, family law, oversees employment, criminal cases, and even notarials and documentation.

“Mga UV lawyers and volunteers gyud ang nangunay og hatag sa service. Libre tanan,” Alo said.

The UV Halad sa Kapamilya was a whole-day event filled with free heart-felt services for all Cebuanos to enjoy, from the senior citizens and to the young.

This is another way of fulfilling the thrust of helping the community through various services under the spirit of a true Visayanian.

As hosts for dyAB Timbangan sa Hustisya, Alo and lawyer Pat Acabodillo have seen firsthand in the past the importance of sharing their knowledge to those in need of their services.

Both Alo and Acabodillo, together with the rest of the UV paralegal team, have been offering their support for years to ABS-CBN Halad Sa Kapamilya.   - (THE FREEMAN)
