Daan now presiding pro-tempore at PB

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Board has officially recognized Board Member Julian Daan as its presiding pro-tempore, the post vacated by Vice Governor Agnes Magpale.

Magpale and Daan had the highest percentage of votes in the 2010 elections.

Daan finished the PB session yesterday as presiding officer when Magpale left for another meeting.

Instead of delivering an inaugural address, Daan shared with his colleagues his experience in the robbery inside his house, thanking those who help him during the “unfortunate incident” in his life.

“As you all know, I got all the media attention not because I was able to win a championship in a boxing tournament, but I was held up at knifepoint by a robber right inside the privacy of my home,” he said.

Daan narrated how he was held up in the morning of May 16 when he was typing his drama script.

“At that moment, I thought that would be the end of Teban Escudero,” Daan said.

Daan thanked Governor Gwendolyn Garcia who contacted Cebu Provincial Police Office director Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador over the incident.

He also thanked Talisay City policemen led by Chief Insp. Pach Recamara for arresting the suspects in less than 24 hours and the recovery of 90 percent of the jewelry items, and to barangay captain Manuel Cabriana of Tabunok for detailing tanods in his house.

Daan said the swift resolution of the case will serve as a testament of policemen’s determination in fulfilling their duty.

“To those who are planning to commit crimes, think first a hundred times before doing so, for you cannot evade the long arms of the law,” Daan said. (FREEMAN)
