Gwen, Imee discuss sisterhood pact

-

CEBU, Philippines – The forging of a sisterhood agreement was among the things that have been discussed by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos during the latter's visit yesterday morning.

The daughter of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos paid Garcia a courtesy call as her family's way of returning the favor for Garcia's visit to Ilocos Norte during the 81st birthday of former first lady Imelda Marcos who is now representing the province's second district in the House of Representatives.

Imee, a neophyte governor, said she came to visit Cebu upon the invitation of Garcia to witness the ongoing One Cebu Exhibit as part of the activities for the 441st Founding Anniversary of the province of Cebu.

The One Cebu exhibit is one of the highlights of the celebration which showcases products from all over the province.

Garcia told reporters that they have discussed the possibility of Cebu and Ilocos Norte forging a sisterhood pact very soon. The governor said she has been to Ilocos Norte and she found it beautiful wherein Cebu could also learn a lot.

She admitted looking forward to forging a sisterhood agreement with them.   During the meeting, Garcia said Marcos, as a neophyte governor, has always expressed admiration for the province of Cebu. She said that there were sharing of experiences during the discussion and even told her that she would be very willing to assist her in whatever programs she too would want to implement in her own province. - Flor Z.Perolina and Ria M.Booc/FPL (THE FREEMAN)
