Four 78th IB soldiers injured in accident

-

Four soldiers from the 78th Infantry Battalion based in Balamban town were injured when the military truck they were riding on lost its brakes, lost control and fell on its side yesterday dawn in sitio Omaling, barangay Babag 2.

Central Command spokesman Lt. Col. Jefferson Omandam said the vehicle, an Isuzu type truck, was driven by Pfc. Pascual Sayson. The injured soldiers, who suffered cuts and bruises and were rushed to the Camp Lapu-Lapu Hospital were Pfc. Melcader Labus, Pfc. Bryan Fuentes, Pfc. Jose Cabuguas and a certain Pfc. Cahinta.

Omandam said the team came from a routine operation in the area and were on their way back to Balamban when the incident happened.

Last year, an M35 truck assigned to the CentCom rammed into vehicles in Maracas, barangay Lahug and injured several people after losing its brakes while traveling downhill coming from disposing garbage in barangay Busay. — Edwin Ian Melecio/QSB
