Crown Regency Hotel Group launches Boracay Resort Projects

Cocktails and entertainment capped the celebration of the launching of the Crown Regency Resort and Convention Center, held at the Grand Ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental Garden last July 26. DOT Secretary Ace Durano and other special guests graced the commemorative event.

The event launched the Crown Regency Hotel Group’s newest project in Boracay, the 382-rooms Condo-hotel property called Crown Regency Resort and Convention Center. Mr. Richard King, founder and CEO, described the property as an investment vehicle which promises investors an opportunity to own a premier vacation destination in the world famous Boracay Island , while
at the same time generate income from its rental pooling scheme.

Angel Aquino and Brad Turvey hosted the affair, which was attended by more than 700 guests comprising of Club Ultima members, realtors, celebrities, foreign investors and top ranking executives and key personalities from the Crown Regency Hotel Group. Among the guests were Rosemarie ‘Baby” Arenas, Cory Quirino and South East Asian Airlines Vice President Mr. Patrick Tan.

In his speech, Department of Tourism Secretary Joseph “Ace” Durano described Mr. King as “the man with the Midas touch,” a kababayan from Cebu , whose innovation in the hotel and leisure industry has greatly aid the country’s tourism endeavors.

Secretary Durano enumerated Mr. King’s contribution in Mactan Island , Cebu , with the establishment of Crown Regency Suites. He described the orange painted 10-storeys business and leisure hotel in Mactan as the “first thing you will see upon descending towards the
Mactan International Airport because it is the tallest building there.”

He commended Mr. King for the Boracay developments stressing on the island’s need for more rooms especially with the tourist influx during peak seasons. He also enjoined King to consider Bohol as another tourism development prospect. Sec. Durano stated that with the projects condo-hotel concept and Mr. Richard King’s proven ability in doing business “He will turn your investments into Gold.”

He later called on Mr. Richard King and brother and Company President, Rafael King to join him for the ceremonial toast to officially launch the project. The model scale courtesy of project designers T.I Vasquez Architect and Partners was unveiled to the delight of the amazed guests.

The popular group, The Company, added more energy to the evening with their refreshing vocals and song choices. The evening’s program concept was patterned from Boracay Crown Regency’s four vacation resorts whose theme was inspired by the elements of nature, Fire, Wind, Water & Earth.

The project was inspired from the element of Water mainly because of its exquisite 2,000 square meter swimming pool. Crown Regency Resort and Convention Center will rise on a 12,000 square meter area at Central Boracay and will also feature the biggest convention facility in the island with a guest capacity of 1,200 pax. Aside from this property, three other equally fascinating vacation resorts will rise under the same quality hotel brand, the Crown Regency Hotel Group.

The project development team includes ASEC Development & Construction Corporation as General Contractor headed by Gerry Esquivel; T. I. Vasquez & Planners Inc., Principal Architects led by Arch. Topy Vasquez who also led the invocation; E. A. Aurelio + ADI Ltd., Inc. (Phil.) represented by Mike Espiritu, for landscape architecture; and Gerard R. Mendoza as interior designer.
