"Imortal" gets a second season

- Ricky L. Calderon -

Inspired by the high ratings posted by “Imortal,” ABS-CBN has decided to give the Angel Locsin-John Lloyd Cruz starrer another season. So even before the first season comes to a close, the production team behind “Imortal” has whipped up another story to extend the series and to hopefully propel the show into even bigger success in the ratings game.

And of course, Angel is thrilled at the idea that her first TV team-up with John Lloyd has made a mark on the televiewers.

“We are all proud and happy. We didn’t imagine that people would like our show. At first, we were really scared since our TV series is about vampires and werewolves plus it can’t be helped that the show gets compared to the ‘Twilight’ series which we all know was a big hit,” explained Angel at the recent presscon of “Imortal.”

“We are very proud that ‘Imortal’ has formed its own identity and we are very thankful for the support that was given to us by the viewers. Our show won’t be this successful had the people not watched us every night.”

As the story of “Imortal” takes a different turn, so will the roles being played out by Angel and John Lloyd. The two lead stars are preparing for their numerous fight scenes as they turn into “enemies”—an unusual twist, indeed.

“We don’t want to disappoint our viewers so that’s why we are preparing well for each scene. We don’t want to shortchange our audience by giving them a half-baked series. We only want to give them the best so from the dialogues to the fight scenes, we want to make sure that everything is polished and done well,” added Angel.

The actress credits the entire production staff for the success of “Imortal.” From their directors to the entire cast, Angel said everyone has contributed to make “Imortal” an interesting show to watch.

With the conscious effort given by the production team to improve “Imortal,” Angel said she was not surprised at all that the show has merited a second season. In fact, she said she was kind of expecting this development. Now, she’s very happy that what she silently wished for came true.

The new season of “Imortal” would center on how would you fight a person you love so much? And what if the person you love so much is your mortal enemy?

Nevertheless, with the success of the first team-up of Angel and John Lloyd in a TV series, many are wondering if an opportunity to be paired in a movie would happen.

“Well, kung may mga nagre-request, that would very nice. They probably saw the chemistry that Lloydie and I have in ‘Imortal’,” she added.

Meantime, she’s very happy to have been given the chance to work with John Lloyd after the likes of Bea Alonzo, Sarah Geronimo and Toni Gonzaga had their chance to work with the award-winning actor in TV shows and in the movies.

“I hope that we could have the chance to do a feel-good movie together,” added Angel.

After “Imortal,” Angel is set to do something for the anniversary of “Maalaala Mo Kaya” and she expressed excitement as she’d be working with someone whom she had been hoping to work with. But she can’t disclose the identity of this person as of presstime.

“I don’t know if I am allowed to reveal the person’s identity but you will surely come to know it soon,” said Angel.
