CEBU, Philippines — The 30-hectare The Mactan Newtown has been recognized as the ‘Best Mixed-Use Development” in Visayas and Mindanao, indicating lead in the live, work and life developments in the region.

Developed by property giant Megaworld, The Mactan Newtown bested other contenders in the category at The Outlook 2019: Philippine Buyers’ Choice Property Awards just this November.

Organized by Lamudi, The Outlook Awards celebrates the developments that have improved the real estate sector in the country and provided property seekers with some of the most outstanding developments fit for their varying lifestyle needs.

The Mactan Newtown is the first development of Megaworld outside of Metro Manila and the only one under its portfolio with its own beachfront. It gained the nod of the judging panel for seamlessly blending residential, office, commercial, and retail components into a community that promotes an effective integrated lifestyle.

Last year, The Mactan Newtown also received a Gold Award in the Masterplan Category at the Property and Real Estate Awards 2018 organized by the International Real Estate Federation of the Philippines (FIABCI-Philippines).

“These awards represent the kind of innovation and intricate planning that go into every Megaworld development, and we are very thankful for accolades like these. We are gearing up for more announcements for The Mactan Newtown next year, and this recognition will only continue to inspire us in bringing more well-thought out, world-class developments as additional components of our township here in Lapu-Lapu City,” said Noli D. Hernandez, president, Megaworld Cebu Properties, Inc.

The residential properties inside The Mactan Newtown have also garnered various recognitions of their own. 8 Newtown Boulevard, Megaworld’s first residential development in the township, hauled three major awards back in 2016: the ‘Best Condo Development in Cebu’ and the ‘Best Residential Interior Design’ Award at the 2016 Philippines Property Awards, and the ‘Outstanding Residential High-Rise Development’ award at the 2016 Property and Real Estate Excellence Awards organized by FIABCI Philippines.

Last year, One Pacific Residences, the company’s second residential development in the township, also won the ‘Best Premium Condo for Visayas and Mindanao’ at The Outlook 2018 Awards.

Situated right across the historic Mactan Shrine, The Mactan Newtown is a truly unique township development in itself. Its main avenue, the Newtown Boulevard, is lined with over 240 mango trees—a unique feature of the development that inspired the township’s annual ‘Cebu Mangoes Festival.’ Today, it is home to luxury residential condominium developments, high-end office towers, and retail shops. It also plays host to almost 10,000 BPO and office workers, as well as to Megaworld’s first school in Visayas and Mindanao, the Lasallian-supervised Newtown School of Excellence.

Just this November, Megaworld opened the 18-storey Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown as its first hotel development in the island of Cebu. Offering a total of 547 guestrooms and suites, the hotel enjoys the distinction as the biggest hotel in terms of number of rooms in Mactan Island and the second biggest in the entire Cebu.

Megaworld also recently announced its plans to build The Mactan Newtown Beach Walk, a two-level mall highlighted by a 1.4-hectare man-made lagoon at the center that will be built along the beachside cliff of this township. It will also have its own chapel that will be surrounded by a garden by the Cliffside, overlooking the sea, as well as a three-storey boutique hotel, four state-of-the-art cinemas, a Food Hall, al fresco areas, Traveler’s Lounge, and a view deck, allowing visitors and mall goers to have a panoramic view of the sea and nearby islands.
