CEBU, Philippines —  The Harbour City Dimsum House Co., Inc. (HCDHCI) is banking on experiential dining edge to sustain its foothold in the country’s competitive restaurant business.

The Group has started the renovation program of all its restaurants bearing the three brands——Ding Qua Qua, Harbour City, and Dimsum Break in 35 locations in Visayas and Mindanao to provide a holistic experience of diners, not only for its iconic recipes and quality service, but also the ambiance and the warm vibe while dining.

In an interview with the Group’s marketing manager Steve Kokseng, he said that the company is catching up with the preference of modern diners.

“We are slowly renovating our outlets,” Kokseng said explaining further that transformation will also include expansion of seating capacities of its existing restaurants , as well as bringing back the Group’s heritage recipes.

HCDHCI started its restaurant business in Cebu with the establishment of “Ding How” dimsum house on Colon Street 50 years ago.

Today, the company’s fast growing brand is the “Dimsum Break”, a dimsum fast food chain which now has 21 branches in Visayas and Mindanao.

Dimsum Break was launched in 1996 combining great food and simple, fast and interactive service. It aimed at meeting the growing need and demands of fast-paced lifestyle while paying homage to the tradition of authentic dimsum dining.

Of the 35 outlets, 10 are managed by franchisees.

Kokseng said the company targets to open two or three stores a year.

This 2019 marks the group’s golden anniversary, 50 years since they pioneered and introduced dimsum cuisine in Cebu. It started with Mr. Henry Uytengsu and now passed on to the third generation of the family, much like how this beloved Cebu dimsum culture and dining has been passed on from one generation of diners to the next.
