Minglanilla business sector to form own chamber

Ehda M. Dagooc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Seeing the enormous economic growth potential of Minglanilla, the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) offers assistance in the formation of a business organization in the area.

MCCI president Glenn Soco said there is need for the Minglanilla-based businesses to create a group that will serve as their mouthpiece as growth and development is going towards the coastal areas of the metropolis.

Minglanilla, Soco said being part of the urban core, and with the creation of 100-hectare reclamation development, is poised to become the gateway to the south.

MCCI is working closely with the Minglanilla local government on the creation of its own business chamber.

Soco and other officials of MCCI have already met with Minglanilla business prime movers to accelerate the creation of Minglanilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In December last year,  a 100-hectare industrial park was launched in Minglanilla, seen to employ at least 75,000 workers.

MCCI recently participated the first organizational meeting of the soon to be established Minglanilla Chamber of Commerce.

Soco added that MCCI already offered their expertise for the immediate creation of the business group, sharing its best practices and organizational system as the second largest business organization in Cebu.

Minglanilla is a first class municipality in Cebu. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 132,135. It is known as the "Sugat Capital of the South."

The opening of the industrial park called Ming-Mori Industrial Park is seen to bring Minglanilla's economic growth into full speed.

Last year, its neighbor city, Naga officially formed the Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the help of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Soco said encouraging emerging municipalities and cities to create their own solid business organization is imperative to push faster economic growth. (FREEMAN)
