VECO partners with Unionbank to facilitate electric bill payments

CEBU, Philippines - The Visayan Electric Company recently forged a partnership with Unionbank to give ease to customers in paying their electric bills.

During a press conference yesterday, VECO Vice president for administration and customer service group Ricardo Lacson said that they were very pleased with the new way of servicing their customers.

Lacson said that they have chosen to partner with Unionbank being one of the biggest companies in the industry catering to a lot of clients in Cebu.

He said that this is one of the ways the company is doing to give convenience for their customers.

Manuel Santiago Jr., the Senior Vice President and General Manager of UnionBank credit cards shared that they are also very eager with the new development they could bring to their clients.

Santiago said that as long as the customer has the Bai Visa card, they would be able to pay their bills without even worrying on deadlines, disconnections or having to go to VECO offices to pay their bills.

The Bai Visa card was introduced in Cebu in 2005 which Santiago said was specifically made and designed for the Cebu market.

He explained that seeing the growth of the market in Cebu and its rosy economic development, they wanted to provide a service intended solely for Cebu.

Thus the making of the Bai Visa card said Santiago which entitles the cardholder the chance to avail services and purchase of products with Unionbank partners.

Santiago further said that the partnership with VECO would lessen Bai Visa Card holders as their electric bills payments would be charged automatically from their accounts through the auto-charge service of the card.

He said the Bai Visa card being an auto-charge facility would mean that the electric bills and even other utility bills could be enrolled to their credit card and at the end of the month, instead of worrying about the payment, it would automatically be charged in the credit account.

Santiago said that this would certainly help the public not worry about due dates and disconnections. He said that because they could also pay for their cable, telephone and insurance bills through they card, they do not have to worry about so many things other than the credit card payment.

At present, Santiago said that they have around 20,000 Bai Visa card holders. The card has a minimum credit line of P10, 000 and a maximum of P400, 000 but could still extend depending on the income requirement. 

Santiago said that this is an additional service they are offering in partnership with VECO aside from the over the counter payments in any Union bank branch, ATM and internet banking.
