"Easy-on-the-pocket" hotel opens in Lapu

After 14 years of doing industrial transactions here in Cebu, a Manila based businessman has decided to put up an original brand of hotel in Lapu-Lapu City.

Aurellio P. Dela Paz, the president of the Aurewen Group of Companies has seen the need to provide more rooms for people who frequent Cebu and its neighboring islands for business or pleasure.

He shared that before, as a tourist himself, Dela Paz found it hard to find a place to stay in Lapu-Lapu City that is nearby the airport and the Mactan Export Processing Zones (MEPZ) where he usually does all their company’s major transactions because most of their clients are based inside these zones.

After some years, he acquired a lot in Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City and built APP Building II, a commercial establishment that provides office spaces.

He also put up ALS Best Suites Hotel to serve the need for a decent but affordable hotel accommodation in the area.

With room rates ranging from P1,300 to P3, 200, ALS Best Suites Hotel has 27 rooms which compose the third and fourth levels of the APP Building II.

These rooms are composed of standard rooms, De Luxe or twin, regular suite with two beds and a kitchen, and best suite with two beds and a kitchen.

It targets the huge foreign and domestic tourists visiting the island of Mactan as well as businessmen who have transactions in Lapu-Lapu or in other cities in Cebu.

ALS Best Suite Hotel is an original concept and it is the first branch that was opened by the family and also their first venture into the hospitality industry.

Dela Paz said that if ever their hotel will flourish faster than they have expected, they will immediately build a new branch in Davao City and General Santos where they have properties.

Dela Paz is also open to putting up another branch in Cebu City if they see a prospective lot as they want to expand and establish the brand.

Aside from the hotel, APP building II also houses the first regional office of Dela Paz’ High Precision Power Electro (HPPE), a distributor of comprehensive industrial solutions and the Milan 11st fashion outlet, a high-end boutique.

Dela Paz said that Cebu has a lot of potential especially in terms of tourism because it serves as a melting pot for people from nearby provinces and also attracts a huge segment of foreign investors.

He said that with the entrance of multi-level companies coming from the business process outsourcing and the manufacturing and exporting companies is proof that both local and foreign investors see a huge potential for Cebu.

And as for Lapu-Lapu City, he said that the area is also fast becoming an urbanized metropolis with the left and right developments ranging from mixed-use establishments, restaurants, subdivisions, condominiums, resorts and hotels that are sprouting in the area.

“Cebu provides a lucrative marketplace for all kinds of businesses and its economic growth is really booming that is why most investors are coming here. And as an investor, we see that potential so we also want to take part of that growth,” he said.– Rhia de Pablo
