Cavitex upgrades, strives for improved customer service

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Just over a year since Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation took over the management of Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), the organization continues in its efforts at improving the operation and maintenance of the toll road.

Early this year, the R1 asphalt resurfacing of the stretch from MIA Road to the Zapote Interchange (formerly Coastal Road) segment of Cavitex has been completed. With the use of Stone Mastic Asphalt, a durable surfacing material that is deformation resistant, suitable for heavily trafficked roads, Cavitex motorists are now experiencing a safer and smoother ride.

The Zapote interchange has also seen completion, easing travel for motorists bound for Zapote-Las Pinas, Bacoor and Kawit.

The roll out of the new electronic toll payment mode called Easy Drive, a radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, was succesfully put in place last month thereby making toll transactions more efficient and faster, reducing the time consuming motorist and toll teller interaction.

Safety and security improvements are also being done with the recent acquisition of new patrol vehicles, and the launch of the Cavitex Hotline (165-8888) for emergency assistance and motorists’ inquiries.

CIC President and Chief Executive Officer, J. Luigi L. Bautista said “Innovative and enhancement projects top our list to be able to deliver better and improved customer service to our motorists.”

Currently in the works is the Toll Collection System upgrading that will enable more reliable, accurate and faster transactions. Toll lane equipment will be replaced, CCTV installed, and the latest version of vehicle classification will be installed in the toll lanes. The upgraded toll collection system will also allow for dedicated lanes for electronic toll collection options like E-tap and RFID. The system will also pave the way for new lane configuration to be implemented to help in in segregating vehicle classes to achieve operational efficiency. This project will necessitate that all 30 toll lanes have to be closed one after the other to undertake the upgrading works.

“Benchmarking on the challenges we faced during the R1 asphalt resurfacing, we shall be augmenting ambulant tellers and lane marshals to help ease congestion. We are grateful for the patience of our motorists as we aim to give them long term convenience when using Cavitex” Bautista further said.
