U.S. Study Clears Toyota from Electronic Flaws

At the request of Congress, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in collaboration with NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC) conducted a thorough investigation of Toyota’s Electronic Throttle Control System after the spate of recall issues. 

After a 10-month study to determine potential electronic faults of the unintended acceleration cases in Toyota vehicles, U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T) has recently announced its findings.

NASA engineers found no evidence of design flaws in the Toyota Electronic Throttle Control System Intelligent (ETSC-i) responsible for creating large relative throttle valve opening resulting in unintended acceleration.

While Toyota vehicles sold in the Philippines were not affected in the said recalls, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) imbibes valuable lessons learned from this incident. “Safety and quality continue to be our utmost priority.

Although the findings from the US study gives assurance to our customers that Toyota vehicles are safe to drive, we at TMP will continue to listen to our customers’ voice and ensure that stringent safety standards are in place to provide safe and reliable vehicles,” expressed TMP Executive Vice President Yuji Goto.
