Are you a toxin collector?

- Max Sucquit -
The idea may be quite disturbing, but according to studies, most people are unaware that because of faulty diets and unavoidable exposure to the elements including pollution, they unwittingly admit into their bodies a host of micro-toxins. These are living and non-living objects that may seriously threaten their health over the years.

Among these are disease-carrying microorganisms as well as toxic chemical residues from the air and from some highly processed food they eat. Now a growing number of independent researches are confirming that indeed, modern man has been taking in poisons that are "killing him softly."

In recent years, no less than health watchdogs like the US Food and Drug Administration and the Philippines’ Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) have banned a number of food additives, preservatives and other substances because of their known and potential threats to human health. Ironically, it took years before the authorities could establish the harm these toxins had caused, including death.

It is estimated that over 300 chemicals are used in various food processing treatments. Just how safe or dangerous any of these food "enhancers" could be, only time can tell.

Fortunately, the human body is gifted with natural abilities to deal with toxic invaders. Through the immune system, harmful microorganisms such as disease-carrying bacteria and viruses are hunted down by the roving patrolmen in the blood stream, the killer T-cels, the leukocytes, and promptly swallowed, then disposed of by the debris-sweepers of the immune system, the macrophages.

On the other hand, most unwanted chemical substances in the blood stream including alcohol are filtered off and neutralized by the liver.

Still, the efficiency by which the body’s natural defenses can dispose of the toxins depends largely on the individual’s state of health. Those who are still in their prime and in excellent health may hardly be affected by the ingathering poisons in their system. Their disposal system is working at par most of the time.

But, as the individual ages and fails to keep a healthy lifestyle, the system slackens, his defenses wear down and the toxins begin to take their toll. At this point, he unwittingly becomes a toxin collector.

Health experts are now alerting us against ingesting toxins mostly from the food we eat, and partly, from other sources like smoking and industrial pollutants. If we live most of our lives in polluted surroundings, the risks are apparently higher. Older people, because of their weakening body defenses, are most prone to succumb to the accumulation of deadly residues in their system, a condition that some health authorities call "toxin overload."

To help most people avoid the potential of such toxin overload, both medical doctors and holistic medicine practitioners are recommending the use of natural food supplements that stimulate what is known as "internal cleansing" or "detoxification." Extracted from certain medicinal herbs, these supplements contain nutrients that help the body expel both organic and inorganic toxins, thus ridding it of a probable cause of disease.

Even those already suffering from apparently toxin-induced ailments have discovered relief after a sustained intake of the supplements.

After extensive studies, Malaysian herbalists have found a potent combination of supplements that could aid the body do its self-cleansing job more effectively. One such combination is composed of chlorophyll extracted from alfalfa and guarana juice. Marketed internationally as Chlorophyll plus Guarana Juice, the supplement contains power nutrients to promote natural cleansing mainly by increasing the re-absorption of nutrients in the renal system.

Another supplement now reported to be gaining popularity among advocates of detoxification the natural way is the extract from the red mushroom ganoderma lucidum. Products containing ganoderma extract are now marketed under the brand name Yeegano capsules. The garlic extract is marketed as Yeegarlic capsules.

Lately, ganoderma extract was added to coffee as well as chocolate drink. Two of the ganoderma-based products are Ganoderma 4-in1 Coffee and Ganoderma Chocolate.
