MANILA, Philippines — State-run Landbank of the Philippines will put up stations to aid taxpayers in filing and paying their annual income tax return until April 17.

Landbank said it would set up hubs that will help taxpayers settle their dues in an easy and convenient manner through the bank’s online payment channels.

This as the last day for the filing of income tax returns draws near. The Bureau of Internal Revenue has set April 17 as the deadline.

The Landbank hubs will be stationed within select revenue district offices (RDOs) nationwide to facilitate online payments during work days starting today from 8 am to 5 pm.

The hubs aim to assist taxpayers to remit their taxes much easier online through the BIR’s electronic filing and payment system and Landbank’s own e-tax payment system (eTPS) and Link.BizPortal channels.

To accommodate more taxpayers, select Landbank branches nationwide will also extend regular banking hours from 3 pm to 5 pm and will be open on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 3 pm to accept payments.

BIR and Landbank have been teaming up to boost digital tax collection and provide taxpayers with efficient and convenient payment platforms.

Landbank’s digital banking channels are in sync with the BIR’s tax filing facility, in line with the government’s Ease of Doing Business initiative.

As of end-December, Landbank’s eTPS and Link.BizPortal have facilitated more than 1.2 million tax payment transactions with a total value of P117.3 billion.

The BIR earlier said taxpayers could file their annual income tax return anywhere without penalty until April 17.

Previously, manual filing of ITRs should be done in the specific RDOs where the business is registered.

Those required to electronically file their ITRs but opted to do it manually were imposed a 25 percent penalty based on tax due.

The BIR aims to provide taxpayers the luxury of filing and paying correct taxes at their convenient time and place without any penalties involved.
