LIMA Estate to turn into next-gen, smart econ center
MANILA, Philippines — Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC), the infrastructure arm of the Aboitiz Group, is set to transform the 794-hectare LIMA Estate into a smart, next-generation, and future-ready economic center to draw more business and green development into the Lipa-Malvar industrial corridor.
AIC tapped global urban infrastructure and managed services consulting firm Surbana Jurong.
The PEZA-registered LIMA Estate is located in the Lipa-Malvar, Batangas industrial corridor.
It is a mixed-use development which hosts 140 locators, 167 retail stores and restaurants, a four-star hotel, a transportation hub, over 2,000 households, and over 60,000 employees.
AIC said the industrial-anchored estate is envisioned to be the next leading mixed-use economic center for CALABARZON, with BPOs, dormitories, hotels, schools, hospitals, churches, and other institutions.
AIC has obtained a BERDE-district five-star certification for the estate, making LIMA the first industrial estate in the country to receive the accreditation.
The certification of LIMA as a BERDE district is a testament to AIC’s leadership in creating smart and sustainable industrial estates in the Philippines, said LIMA Land Inc. president and AIC economic estates head Rafael Fernandez de Mesa.
“We are glad to be the first industrial estate in the Philippines to receive the BERDE-district five-star certification,” he said.
The certification means the sustainability programs at the company’s cconomic estates are at par with global standards.
“It is also an opportunity to raise the profile of industrial estates in the Philippines, and to help raise awareness across the region that sustainability is not only present, but that it’s at the forefront of what we do,” he said.
The Philippine Green Building Council (PhilGBC) developed the BERDE program in 2009 to proactively address the adverse impacts of climate change.
AIC is also applying for the BERDE Building Certification for the LIMA Tower One, the first of seven multi-story office buildings to be built at LIMA’s central business district, slated for completion in 2024.
