MANILA, Philippines — The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Research Academy (BRAc) recently conducted the first “BSP International Research Fair” which featured 10 research papers under the theme, “Central Banking in the Time of Pandemic.”

“The online event discussed research relevant to central banking in the Philippines and other emerging countries. This is in line with BRAc’s broader effort to facilitate domestic and international collaborations for research that will serve as valuable inputs to central banking policies,” said BSP Governor Benjamin E. Diokno.

Aside from the Governor’s keynote speech, the fair highlighted the message of Professor Naoyuki Yoshino, former dean and chief executive officer of the Asian Development Bank Institute, and currently a professor emeritus at Keio University.

Attended by over 300 participants, the two-day fair served as a venue for discussing the work of experienced and established local and international researchers, as well as junior researchers and institutional researchers.

The South East Asian Central Banks Research and Training Centre (SEACEN Centre) co-hosted the Research Café on Day 2, where BSP officers, professionals from other research institutions, and junior researchers presented poster presentations of their completed or ongoing research. Economists from the SEACEN Centre, Professor Yoshino and BRAc senior staff also shared their comments, insights, and guidance to the researchers.
