CebuPac to continue fleet expansion
MANILA, Philippines — Budget carrier Cebu Pacific is continuing with its re-fleeting program as it expects to receive seven more aircraft orders this year.
Cebu Pacific welcomed last Friday the arrival of a brand-new Airbus A321neo aircraft, the eighth out of its 47 narrow-body orders from Airbus as part of the company’s fleet expansion plans.
On top of this A321neo, Cebu Pacific said it is expecting delivery of seven more aircraft this year which will be a mix of Airbus and ATR fleet.
“Pre-pandemic, we have already started embarking on our long-term vision and fleet strategy, which includes an orderly exit of older aircraft. We envision the total Cebu Pacific fleet to be composed of new-generation aircraft in the next few years,” Cebu Pacific deputy chief finance officer Mark Cezar said.
The carrier said its newest aircraft is set to enter service on April 9 to serve various domestic routes.
The new A321neo has a capacity of 236 seats, allowing for more seats without compromising on cabin comfort.
Its seats are ergonomically designed by world-renowned manufacturer Recaro, which provide more legroom between rows.
All seats are also equipped with a USB port that enables passengers to charge their mobile devices inflight.
The Airbus A321neo also delivers 20 percent fuel cost savings while offering significant environmental benefits with nearly 50 percent reduction in carbon footprint compared to previous generation aircraft.
Cebu Pacific’s current 74-strong fleet is comprised of eight A321neo, 25 Airbus A320, seven Airbus A321ceo, five Airbus A320neo, seven Airbus A330, six ATR 72-500, and 13 ATR 72-600 aircraft. The airline also has two ATR freighters on top of one A330 freighter.
