Globe improves mobile services in Metro Manila outskirts

Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Globe Telecom Inc. said its customers in Pampanga, Batangas, Laguna and parts of Cavite would experience better call, SMS, and data browsing services starting next month following the modernization of its network in these areas.

Globe said Pampanga, Batangas, Laguna and parts of Cavite are now 4G LTE ready.

“Our current target to fast-track our 4G LTE and 5G network builds are meant to give our customers more opportunities to make the most of the new standard in mobile data,”  said Joel Agustin, Globe SVP for program delivery, network technical group.

“While 3G has served its purpose, it’s time for our customers to go beyond the limitations of the old technology especially now that 4G LTE complements the new normal,” Agustin said.

4G LTE refers to the mobile network technology that enables 4G compatible phones to connect to the internet faster and smoother.

With the technology, customers are given higher bandwidth or faster data speed, improved network responsiveness or lower latency, higher network capacity, backwards compatibility, future proofing and better security measures.

Agustin said Globe is pushing to make its 4G LTE network more pervasive with more site builds and upgrades despite varying quarantine restrictions across the country.

Around 90 percent of Globe’s cell towers are equipped with 4G LTE technology to ensure better data experience for users.

The company  aims to make 4G LTE the new standard of mobile data in the country.

By using 4G LTE, customers could download content and web pages, stream video and music within seconds.

Globe is urging its customers to switch to the 5G-ready 4G/LTE SIM, which is free at all Globe Stores.

Customers will also be able to retain their old number, Globe said.
