Kabayan Hotel expansion completed by next year

Catherine Talavera - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Legend Hotels International Corp. (LHIC) is set to complete the P500 million expansion of its Kabayan Hotel in Pasay City next year as it aims to address growing demand from balikbayans and overseas Filipino workers.

In an interview, LHIC chief operating officer Celine Marie King told reporters that they are targeting to open the new 10-story building of the Kabayan Hotel in January 2020.

This will offer guests an additional 307 new rooms on top of the 280 existing rooms in its two seven-story buildings.

“We are hoping to open a few floors by the middle of this year. So we will probably soft launch it toward the last quarter and then fully open by January 2020,” King said.

She added that construction works for the hotel’s expansion started in October 2017.

At present, Kabayan Hotel is experiencing an average occupancy of 84 percent, according to King. This is driven by the continued demand from the hotel’s target markets, the OFWs and balikbayans.

“I think that’s because we’re distinctly Filipino and our kababayans really recognize that,” King said.

Apart from its hotel rooms, Kabayan also features very affordable Japanese Kapsule pods and dorm rooms best for budget travelers.

It also offers services and facilities such as include the OFW Help Desk, free WiFi access, airport transfer, 24-hour in-room dining and parking.

Kabayan Hotel is also conveniently located along EDSA in Pasay City, 20 minutes away from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, 10 minutes from SM Mall of Asia, and a short walk from MRT and LRT train stations.
