RLC puts up new mall in Tuguegarao

Iris Gonzales - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC), the property unit of the Gokongwei Group, further expanded its mall footprint by opening another mall in Northern Luzon.

RLC opened its 50th  mall, Robinsons Place Tuguegarao, which is expected to further strengthen its recurring income portfolio, said RLC president Frederick Go.

“We are happy to mark our 50th mall milestone in Tuguegarao. This city is a perfect place to open a mall right now because of its vibrant economy as the central hub in the Province of Cagayan,” Go said.

On top of the latest mall, RLC aims to continue expanding its mall footprint by building more malls in underserved territories.

“We look forward to our next 50 malls. We will continue to build in new territories, in underserved markets, and in places where they can be catalysts of economic growth,” Go said.

The mall is a three-story building, which is located in Cagayan’s regional center. It has a gross floor area of 60,000 square meters with 38,000 sqm. of leasable space.

Its anchor tenants include Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Department Store, Handyman, Daiso Japan, Robinsons Appliances and Robinsons Movieworld, which will have six cinemas including a 3D theater.

Located in Bgy. Tanza, Robinsons Place Tuguegarao sits in an area that is considered a prime location, which is surrounded by government offices, educational institutions, transport hubs and residential areas.

It is the second Robinsons Mall in the region following Robinsons Place Santiago in Isabela.

The opening of the Tuguegarao mall brings the total number of malls  of the Robinsons Group to four in Northern Luzon.

Go said the company is hitching a ride on Tuguegarao’s economy, which has gradually shifted to trading, commerce and services from just agriculture.

It serves as a commercial and institutional hub and is the ideal location of banks as well as regional or provincial branches of big companies.

“With the presence of the new mall, RLC becomes the catalyst in promoting and supporting progress, spurning more businesses to open and flourish in the region,” said Robinsons Malls general manager Arlene Magtibay.
